When everyone has used up all their stickers the person with the fewest on their body wins! You can’t place a sticker on the same person two times in a row, and you can’t remove stickers from where you have been tagged. Pass these out and on “go”, have each player try to catch other players by putting a sticker on them. Sticker Tag– You’ll need a sheet of round office dot stickers for each kid.You can adapt this to your theme, for example at a jungle party you could yell “Lion, Lion, are you hungry?”. The game starts over, with the new monsters on one side of the yard and the other kids at the other side of the yard. This happens over and over, until the monster finally answers “Yes”! At this point he tries to catch as many children as possible and they become monsters too. The kids will all come a little closer and ask the question again. The kids yell together, “Monster, Monster, are you hungry?” to which the monster will say “No, not really, come closer”. The kids are at the other end of the yard. Kids ask for it whenever we have a group at our house!! One person (usually my husband) is the monster, and stands at one end of the yard. Monster Monster Game - We play this game at every single party. On "go", the head tries to catch the tail, while the tail tries to not get caught. The first player is the head, the last is the tail. Lion's Tail - If you have a lot of players, this one is fun! Have everyone form a line while holding hand.If found by “It”, a player tries to run back to base without getting caught. After counting to 20, "It" says "Ready or Not, Here I Come" and tries to find everyone. “It” turns around and with their eyes closed, slowly counts to 20 while the other players hide. Hide and Seek - Choose one person to be “It” and designate a spot in the party area to be “base”, which is a safe area where you cannot be tagged.Variation: A player can become unfrozen if a person crawls thru their legs. When “It” catches someone, that kid is "frozen" in place. Freeze Tag – Choose one person to be “It”.Whoever catches the Firefly will be the next one! The Firefly can run around, hide, anything to avoid getting caught! The adult continues to count to 10, and at each count of 10 the Firefly flashes the flashlight. At the count of 10, the Firefly must flash the flashlight on and off. During this time the Firefly goes out into the dark area. Have everyone hide their eyes while the adult counts to 10. Choose someone to be the firefly and give him/her a flashlight. You’ll need an adult to count and a flashlight. Flashlight Firefly – Played after dark, outside, in wide open spaces. But because you have more rules and a bit of strategy involved, this one is best for older kids - adults. Capture the Flag - Capture the flag is a party and playground favorite.Any game of tag or chase can be added to using these varients. A no tag-backs, no returns, or can't tag your master rule prevents a player from tagging the person who has just tagged them. A simple variation makes tag an elimination game, so those tagged drop out of play. There are many variants which modify the rules for team play, or place restrictions on tagged players' behaviour. Variants include gould, goul, and ghoul, and alternatives include base and home. The term "gool" was first recorded in print in Massachusetts in the 1870s, and is common in the northern states of the US. This safe zone has been called a "gool", probably a corruption of "goal". Players may be safe from being tagged under certain circumstances: if they are within a pre-determined area, off the ground, or when touching a particular structure. It is common, but not completely necessary to have a home base while playing tag. Usually one player is 'It' and has to chase and tag the other players, one of whom then becomes the new person who is 'It.' By changing the rules of Tag, the game can stay fresh and exciting. In games of chase and tag, the object is to tag, or touch, other players who are then out of the game. The kids pictured here are playing one of my favorite forms of tag, which is called "Flashlight Tag" where I come from. Most forms have no teams, scores, or equipment necessary. There are many variations, several of which we have the rules posted here for your enjoyment. Tag is a game played mostly outdoors and is known worldwide.
